Scary movies--are some of them true?

Hollywood's Amityville Horror house
I post once a month on the Supernatural Underground blog, along with a group of best-selling HarperCollins authors writing Speculative Fiction (Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance/Fantasy/Sci-Fi) for adults and teens. What a mouthful! Everyone's writing about Halloween this month, so I decided to take a look at three classic horror movies that have real life stories behind them. Real, that is, if you accept the paranormal basis for them. Check out my examination of the movies The Shining, The Amityville Horror, and The Exorcist. If you haven't seen these classics in a while, or haven't seen them at all, they make good viewing for your Halloween guests, plus you'll be able to amaze them with the background stories.
